FREDERICTON, N.B. - The Smart Grid Innovation Network (SGIN), in association with Ignite Fredericton, will present the second annual Energy Innovations Forum, October 1-2, 2018 at the Fredericton Convention Centre.  With New Brunswick laying the foundation for smart grid and smart city leadership on a global scale, this forum will explore new opportunities for local and regional companies in the growing digital energy space.

The global transformation of the electricity industry is happening at a rapid pace, and it presents a once-in-a-generation export opportunity for Atlantic businesses. The 2018 Energy Innovations Forum will feature innovators, who are creating this new energy future, and it will provide a unique opportunity to spark new ideas and network with regional leaders.

This two day event is supported by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and Opportunities NB, in collaboration with the SGIN partners (NB Power, the University of New Brunswick and Siemens).  It will target engineering and ICT professionals; smart energy businesses and vendors; utilities, municipal leaders and planners; policy makers; regulators; NGOs; trades people; and training institutions.

Day One will focus on ‘evolving energy technologies’ exploring state-of-the-art innovations in energy, new energy transaction models and digitization of the industry. Topics will include: microgrids, community energy trading and blockchain technology, energy storage, and smart energy cities in a low carbon future.

Day Two will encompass ‘energy innovation in practice’ examining the developments, challenges and evolving business opportunities in the smart energy sector. Topics will include: intelligent and resilient grids, lessons in innovation from emerging economies, the new energy consumer, and energy in transition through the regulatory and policy lens.
